Collect Pre-Assessments Remotely
Do a few collaborative writes (on different topics) first:
– Introduce POWeR & TIDE
– Review an exemplar (to a different topic)
– Go back a year (Give Gr 3 students a Gr 2 pre)
– Gr 4+: Rather than collecting a full essay, keep them short. Try “Explain one way in which….”
– Do them live – during class. Watch students type / or write as they go
Alternate Pre-Assessments
Follow the same set of steps when giving a pre-assessment remotely.
Remember to model and stress putting self-talk on your paper before beginning.
